Child Aid would not survive without the support from the public.

Salem Project

From Scavaging to School, but only if you are lucky

… Child Aid is trying to support a young girls rescue centre for Street Children in Salem. Children live around one of the biggest rubbish tips in Southern India, which is their home and their place of work, children as young a five and six `work` on the rubbish tip collecting goods to sell, not saleable goods in our world, bottles, tin cans, paper, it is an existence which cannot be imagined. The AAK project provides a safe home for some of these unfortunates, without the Children’s’ Home the girls would suffer a fate even worse than scavenging. Now many of these young girls can experience a childhood, school and growing up in a safe environment – see more Amala Anbu Karangal .
